Midnight Craving
It so sucks to crave for something you know won't find in your fridge. And it gets more depressing when you know you won't be able to find it in nearby stores, either because it's just not available or it's that time of the day that stores are already closed. In my case it's both.
I just got back from the kitchen after rummaging the fridge and this big old tupperware of my mother where she stores all the good stuff--junk food, bread, instant noodles--thinking that I'll find a bar of snickers, a Pan de Manila cheesestick, or the honey spread from Bohol still undisturbed from its usual place. Fully aware that no good food lasts forever in our kitchen, I know I just imagined all these stuff out of hunger. But when you're craving, there's just this need to make sure that what you so most want is not really there... a sort of assurance so you'll force yourself to be content with something else.
And because I have a stomach to calm down, I searched for something else. But despite the pack of chicharon, siopao, iced tea, coke, biscuits, sisig and a few more unhealthy food beckoning to be eaten, I ended up with a mug of coffee and a cheez whiz-filled sandwich. For all my impossible wants, I ended up eating the most available items in everyone's kitchen.
Not bad for a first meal of the day eh? Kinda early for breakfast I know, but after all, it's already past midnight and my next meal will probably be eaten around lunch time.
