Homesick

I've been to a lot of places, and I've spent a lot of nights away from home, but I've never really felt this far away.  Moving out of my parents' house has always been something I meant to do, something I thought I'm so capable of doing despite some minor disabilities (I don't know how to cook and hate doing housework). Moving out seems like making a statement in a society that is known for its close-knit family ties, where getting married and having your own family seems the only valid reasons for someone to move out of their parents' house.

But I'm not married, and though I'm moving to a new house with my sister who is equally incapable (though not entirely) of cooking and doing housework, it feels like I'm moving out alone. I miss a lot of things, like the noise of my old neighborhood and its familiarity, the internet and cable (where we're moving, connections such as these are still pending), playing PS2 with my brother and hearing the noise of the electric guitar when he's practicing, my old bed and pillows, my mother's cooking and the baon she makes for me, and a lot more things, though mundane, which made my life comfortable.  I especially miss my parents, my brother, and my lolo.

So coming back today from an office-related travel in Aurora, I thought I'd drop by to see the "old house."  It will be a week tomorrow since my sister and I moved to our new place. After dropping by some pasalubong, I went back to my old room to catch a nap. It was the best sleep I've had since we moved out.  Now I'm thinking of staying here for the night. My lolo is even hinting that I stay. He sort of misses us I think.

But then again, some things need getting used to, so I must soon leave after posting this and after eating sisig which my mother just bought from a carinderia in our neighborhood.  The new neighborhood is not really a bad place and the house, though small, looks really nice (from the inside that is).  I know I have yet to post the photos but that's for another time. I'll just attach two photos here of my favorite parts of the house in the meantime.

Like I said, its not a bad neighborhood, though I have yet to officially meet the neighbors.  I've only met one yet, and he lives in another block and he offered to carry my luggage last Thursday while walking to the subdivision gate. He also paid for the tricycle fare. Not bad for a neighbor, huh?

Oh well, I have to end this now before I get too addicted. I'll just blog the details when I got locked inside the house and had to get out of the window another time.

  16. I enjoyed reading your "Homesick"... I guess your homesickess will soon fade away as you meet
"the guy" and others in the subdivision...Would be glad to see other pics of your new home and its
surroundings, knowing that you are a good photographer. God blesses you.
